Poul Kjærholm
Furniture designer Poul Kjærholm (1929–1980) was one of the leading names of Danish functionalism. He began his career as a cabinetmaker and later continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, where he developed a particular fascination with steel.
Kjærholm is known for his thoughtfully refined shapes and uncompromising mastery of materials, whether working with his beloved steel or natural wood. His designs for Fritz Hansen, including the iconic PK22 lounge chair and PK61 coffee table, have become true classics of modern design. Kjærholm’s style is defined by calm precision and timeless elegance, making his pieces effortlessly at home in a wide range of interiors.
