Jonathan De Pas
Jonathan De Pas (1932–1991) was an Italian designer and architect, best known for his collaboration with Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi. Together, the trio founded the De Pas, D’Urbino & Lomazzi studio (DDL), active in the 1960s and 1970s, which gained recognition for its experimental and open-minded approach to design.
The studio’s breakthrough piece was the Blow chair, introduced in 1967 – a PVC plastic design and the world’s first mass-produced inflatable armchair. De Pas’s work formed part of the Italian Radical Design movement, which challenged conventions and explored unconventional materials and forms with bold creativity.
