Description

Alessi's Poêle stool, created by the design maestro Philippe Starck, is a marvel of steel craftsmanship. Imagine rigid sheets transforming into a fluid dance around wooden elements with a distinct identity, seamlessly fitting into diverse environments – homes, offices, or high-end projects.

In Starck's vision, traditional home furnishing takes a minimalist turn, blending wooden structures with metal shells featuring gentle, organic lines. Steel's magic turns seats into sculptural marvels with sophisticated ergonomics. The inspiration? Starck's "serious joke" evolved from a pan sketch with legs, adapting high technology for new purposes. The Poêle stool embodies the brilliance of human intelligence – a testament to Starck's unique relationship with Alessi. It's a convergence of genius, humour, and technology in this extraordinary chair.

Philippe Starck

The french designer Philippe Starck (b. 1949) studied in École Nissim de Camondo in Paris and stayed in Paris after his studies. He became famous for his style and even the president Francois Mitterand asked him to design a suite to his palace. Starck became one of the most famous designers of that time and designed everything from apartment blocks, homes, domestic products and hotels.

In the 80s and 90s Starck started working for Kartell. The cooperation was built on the company’s will to create eco-friendly, contemporary plastic furniture and the designer's particular style. One of the most iconic designs of our time, the transparent Louis Ghost chair, was one of the results of the cooperation with Kartell.
