Northern
Northern is a Norwegian furniture manufacturer that was founded in 2005. At that time, the brand was called Northern Lighting and focused mainly on lighting. In 2017, it expanded from a lighting brand to furniture and interior accessories. The name was shortened to its current form, Northern.
Northern’s products are characterised by simplicity, strong silhouettes, classic features, natural materials, and Nordic elegance.

Founded in Oslo in 2005, Norwegian brand Northern was born where urban culture meets the raw beauty of Scandinavian nature. The city of Oslo continues to be a lasting source of inspiration – vibrant yet calm, creative yet grounded – and these contrasts are reflected in Northern’s distinctive design language.
From light to holistic interiors
Originally known as Northern Lighting, the brand first focused on lighting inspired by the unique qualities of northern light. Over time, the collection expanded to include furniture and interior objects – and the name was simplified to Northern.
At the heart of every product lies a commitment to longevity: materials, construction and form are all chosen to stand the test of time, both in function and aesthetics. Clear shapes are paired with characterful silhouettes, blending modern sensibilities with traditional craftsmanship.
Creative, calm and connected to nature
Northern collaborates with both established designers and emerging talents, proudly taking on the role of nurturing new voices in Nordic design. Its collection features works by Morten & Jonas, Sami Kallio, Birger Dahl and Ann Kristin Einarsen, among others.
With each new design collaboration, Northern aims to make Nordic design more exciting, relaxed and beautiful. Many of its products feature natural materials, giving each piece a unique and authentic feel.
