Aldis Circenis

Aldis Circenis (b. 1965) is a Latvian designer and architect, one of his country’s best-known names in the field. Trained as an architect at Riga Technical University, Circenis founded his interior design company SIA Coppa in the early 1990s, and in 1999, its sister company Riga Chair Factory began operations. Since 2023, the company has operated under the name Articul.

Circenis is known above all for designing modern, lightweight furniture made of bent birch plywood. In 2012, he became the first Latvian designer to win the prestigious Red Dot Design Award – the prize was awarded for the Bloom stool, which remains in production today.
