Matri is a Finnish bed and bedding manufacturer established in 1986. Matri’s story began when Martti Lehtonen, a factory worker from Perniö, decided to build some furniture for his house. Eventually, his carpentry became so popular that Martti and his wife Anja had to start their own business. Today, Matri’s collection includes beds, bedding and bedroom furniture in an elegant, refined Scandinavian style.

Matri – the keys to a good night’s sleep
Back in 1985, Martti and Anja Lehtonen founded the Matri furniture workshop with a simple yet powerful vision: to craft timeless, high-quality furniture guided by their own values of responsibility, durability and beauty.
Over the decades, the small workshop in the Finnish village of Perniö has blossomed into a respected specialist in beds and bedding – with growing demand beyond Finland’s borders as well.
Nordic aesthetics with a Bauhaus twist
Still proudly family-run, Matri is now steered by the second generation. Daughter Elli Lehnhoff, trained in furniture design, leads product design alongside her husband, industrial designer Andreas Lehnhoff. Together, they blend Andreas’s functional, Bauhaus-inspired style with the timeless clarity and calm of Nordic design – a perfect match of practicality and aesthetics.
The family’s son, Kalle Lehtonen, is in charge of Matri’s bed factory in Estonia, where the majority of their products are thoughtfully crafted.
