Masahiro Mori
Masahiro Mori (1927–2005) was a Japanese designer whose work focused particularly on everyday objects. He graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo in 1952 and began working as a designer at Hakusan Porcelain in 1956. He played an important role in shaping the company’s design language as it evolved into its current form. Mori left Hakusan Porcelain in 1978, but continued his collaboration with them as a consultant. Later in his career, he also devoted time to teaching alongside his design work.
Mori’s design philosophy was based on creating objects for everyday use that could be mass-produced and made accessible to as many people as possible. Over the course of his career, he received numerous recognitions both in Japan and internationally, including the Good Design Award more than 100 times.
