Rikucho Ogasawara
Rikucho Ogasawara (1929–2012) was a renowned Japanese cast iron artist who approached cast iron as a material in which its inherent qualities guide the form. He sought to create objects that feel balanced and timeless in use.
Ogasawara was born into a traditional Nambu Tekki craft family and began working alongside his father from a young age. He inherited the techniques of the tradition and later became known for reinterpreting them through a more modern design language. Over the course of his career, he designed a wide range of household items that reflect his deep understanding of the material.
