The Shogi rug by Anno arises from a combination of natural materials and Japandi-style aesthetics. Part of a collaboration between textile designer Åsa Pärson and Finnish Anno, the wool rug's design is inspired by the Tofuku-Ji garden in Kyoto, Japan.
The Shogi wool rug is handmade in India of fine, undyed wool yarn, which makes the rug's surface feel smooth and incredibly soft. Due to the undyed yarn, the shade of the rug is charmingly varied, further emphasizing its authentic, natural look. Thanks to the manufacturing methods, each rug is slightly different, showcasing the innate beauty of the material and the work of skilled artisans.
Wool is a naturally dirt-repellent and antistatic material, which makes the rugs very easy to care for – stains can often simply be wiped off with a damp cloth, and otherwise, it is usually sufficient to simply air out or vacuum the rug. As is typical of natural materials, some lint may initially come off the wool rug, but this will lessen with time and use.
