In addition to general lighting, many long for an adjustable reading light as well as soft mood lighting in the bedroom. We picked six suitable lighting fixtures from Finnish Design Shop’s selection.
1. Dimmable table lamp creates a serene haze
JWDA by Menu is a statuesque eye-catcher for the bedside table, with materials that give it a touch of luxury. The light source beneath the opal glass shade is dimmable, so the luminaire creates a comfortable, hazy atmosphere in the bedroom. The JWDA collection was designed by Jonas Wagell.
2. White Aalto classic for the ceiling
Alvar Aalto’s A440 pendant light in opal glass is suitable for all areas of the home, and it provides particularly good general lighting for the bedroom. The pendant lamp, which imitates the shape of the iconic Golden Bell, filters soft light around itself. The dainty design of the lamp exudes 1950s charm.
3. Adjustable reading light in the style of the 1920s
The wall-mounted Lampe Gras is a versatile lamp that also works well as a reading light. Designed by the French Bernard-Albin Gras, this lighting fixture toying with an industrial aesthetic is attached to a rod that turns lightly from side to side. The arm can also be adjusted and the shade moved to just the right angle.
4. Playful lamp for the children’s room
Ferm Living’s Air Balloon wall lamp draws the eye up, up and away. The wooden hot air balloon illuminates moments of both reading and play, acting as a sympathetic design element even when turned off. The range includes lamps for fans of cars, hot air balloons and animals alike.
5. Magic of Japanese paper lanterns
The delicate and enchanting Akari 10A floor lamp from Vitra is a modern interpretation of Japanese paper lanterns by sculptor Isamu Noguchi. The shades of Akari luminaires are assembled by traditional methods using bamboo and washi paper made from mulberry fibers. The range also includes pendants and table lamps, all of which would fit nicely in the bedroom. The natural look of the lamps also complements Scandinavian interior design.
6. Stylish reading light on both sides of the bed
The Caravaggio Read wall lamp by Cecilie Manz turns 180 degrees on the wall, and the bendable arm allows the position of the shade to be adjusted as needed. Caravaggio is an excellent reading light for both sides of the bed and comes in matt white, gray, black and opal glass.
