Elina Helenius

Elina Helenius (b. 1963) is a Finnish textile designer specialized in surface, colour and pattern design. She graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Textile Department, in 1988. Elina Helenius has worked extensively in product design and in the field of productization applying Finnish design know-how to the needs of domestic and foreign clients. 

She has worked for renowned international companies like Aarikka, Adea, Doctor Design, Marimekko and Showroom Finland, to name a few. One of Elina Helenius’ most famous creations is the Lusto rug, which represents modern rug design from Scandinavia. The inspiration for Lusto rugs comes directly from the Finnish nature and from its trees as can be seen from the beautiful wood grains of the pattern. The elegant and eye-catching Lusto rugs, which will add a touch of Finnish nature to any room, are made of jacquard woven cotton chenille, a perfect material both for the home and for the office. Elina Helenius has received prizes in several design competitions and her works are represented in the collection of the Helsinki’s Design Museum, Finland, Kyoto Textile Resource Center, Japan, and Röhsska Museum of Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Göteborg, Sweden.
