The Luna sunchair by Sika-Design is based on a rattan chair called Radar which was designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg in 1967. The sketches of the chair were found in Franco Albini's archives. Relaunched by Sika-Design, Luna is a cosy lounge chair with references to the 1960's futurism and the space age. The round plastic rattan frame and the soft cushion invite you to relax on the terrace or inside the house.

The Exterior collection transforms Sika-Design’s classic rattan designs into attractive and maintenance-free outdoor furniture. Made from strong aluminium frame of Alu-Rattan with synthetic ArtFibre, the Exterior furniture can be used in the garden, patio and balcony all year round.

Franco Albini

Franco Albini (1905–1977) was an Italian Neo-Rationalist architect and designer. He graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 1929 and began his career by working for the famous Italian architect Gio Ponti. Albini developed his own, distinctive style, where traditional Italian artisanship and raw, inexpensive materials combined with new forms of modern minimalism.

Albini’s best known designs were made of rattan, including the Belladonna sofa from 1951 and the chairs Margherita and Gala, that both belong to the permanent collection of New York’s MoMA. During his career Albini was awarded three times with the prestigious Italian design award Compasso d’Oro.
