Description

Marimekko's Pieni Karhuemo tote bag features an animal motif in which a mother bear is running through the forest with her cub. Please note that Marimekko bags are made using the entire length of the fabric, and the pattern placement may therefore differ from pictured.

The Karhuemo pattern, Finnish for "mother bear", was conceived when Aino-Maija Metsola was designing her own contribution to the Ruudut pattern, created in the spring of 2021 as a collaboration between four Finnish designers. The Ruudut pattern consisted of plant-themed squares made using the paper-cutting technique – during the sketching process, Metsola came up with the idea of adding a bear with its cub to one of the squares.
