Valerie Objects' pepper mill boasts a playful, asymmetrical form typical of Dutch designer Maarten Baas. Although the design is based on the archetypal pepper mill, Baas has given it a sketch-like shape that highlights irregularity and imperfection, allowing them to take centre stage. The pepper mill looks as if hand-forged from iron but is actually made of durable yet more easily moldable ABS plastic.

Maarten Baas (b. 1978) is one of the most influential Dutch designers of the 21st century. Baas started his studies at Design Academy Eindhoven in 1996 and became known for his playful, intellectual and rebellious approach that often blurs the boundaries between art and design. Baas’ work ranges from product design to concepts and installations and from theatre to architecture and interior design. Baas has collaborated with many exclusive brands such as Louis Vuitton, Swarovski and Dior, and his works have been included in the collections of MoMA New York, Victoria & Albert Museum London and Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris, to name a few.View all products
