The Avata cabinet, designed by interior architect Hanni Koroma, offers a variety of storage space in the same piece of furniture. At first glance, the elm-veneered Avata is just a minimalist cabinet. However, opening Avata’s many, many doors reveals a very versatile storage unit – Avata has shelves, drawers and even a clothes rail.
Hanni Koroma says about the Avata closet: ”As an interior architect, I have studied spaces and storage solutions for 20 years. Storage is an everyday form of problem-solving and a way of making life easier. The Avata cabinet is based on the idea of hiding things in an attractive way but, at the same time, keeping them in order and within reach. I hope Avata brings peace and harmony to the everyday.”
Avata is part of the LOKAL x FDS collection, a collaboration created to spotlight local artisans and designers who perhaps are a little more unknown to the general public. Curated by Lokal Helsinki and Finnish Design Shop, the collection consists of unique, locally-manufactured products made in small-scale production, many even by hand in the designers' own workshops.
