&Tradition’s Pavilion AV2 chair merges together an elegant, softly bent plywood seat and slender steel tube frame and armrests. Design studio Andersen & Voll designed the stackable Pavilion chair for mass seating at the Langelinie Pavilion, located on the castle grounds of Copenhagen’s Kastellet fortress. Langelinie Pavilion has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, and its resilient spirit inspired Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll to create a strong, durable chair with a tender soul. Steel tube chairs are often based on fixed angles, but Andersen & Voll wanted to give the Pavilion chair more freely flowing form. Despite the robust steel frame, chairs of the Pavilion collection have an airy and poetic feeling that creates harmonic ambience by the dining table or as an individual highlight of the room.
