Mifuko
Mifuko is a Finnish company founded in 2009, created by textile designers Mari Martikainen and Minna Impiö. The two women explored marketplaces in Nairobi and were thoroughly inspired by the skilful creations of local artisans. That is when they first got their idea of combining Scandinavian design and traditional African handicraft.
Mifuko’s unique woven baskets are hand-made in Kenya in women’s workshops, where the artisans are offered fair pay, good working conditions and important education. The beautiful and versatile products are ecological and are produced according to Fair Trade standards.
