Maybe as a little rebellion against the heavy burden of world politics, interior design trends have taken a delightful turn. The trendy “dopamine décor” is exactly what it sounds like: bursts of color and playful patterns. Finnish Design Shop’s latest arrivals for April are full of good vibes – check out our favorites and pick up yours!
Paddle on Parade
It is a well-known fact that stripes and Marimekko go together like peas and carrots. Now it's designer Fujiwo Ishimoto's turn to offer his own interpretation of this classic pattern that adorns so many of the Finnish brand's products in different forms and shades.
The multicolored Puffi floor cushion is adorned with Ishimoto's playful stripe pattern called Paraati, Finnish for “parade”. Made of recycled polyester with a water-repellent surface, this colorful ottoman is designed specifically for outdoor use on the patio, balcony, deck, or veranda. The fabric is also UV-protected to make sure that colors do not fade in the summer sun but will shine just as bright and cheerful year after year.
Kaleidoscope of colors
The Alu chair by valerie_objects is for anyone who is looking for surprising shades and bold colors to brighten up the interior of their kitchen, garden, or patio. Designed by Muller van Severen, the chair is a real explosion of colors: the back and seat of the chair are decorated in different hues, contrasted by the aluminum frame left unpainted.
Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen from Muller van Severen told they had some trouble finding the right color scheme for the chair. That's why they've given us a few combinations to play with, ranging from vibrant and playful to more restrained and classic – but of course not too subdued. After all, it is Muller van Severen we are talking about!
Moomins on an adventure

To Go Click thermo mug carries coffee, tea, and other drinks both hot and cold always with you in a smart and ecological way. The practical design of the cup allows you to drink from all 360 degrees, just like from an ordinary mug. Rise and shine
If waking up in the morning feels hard, try to make the first moments of the day a little bit more bearable with nice tableware and a delicious breakfast. Petite Friture's cheerful Donut mug is a great way to start – and yes, we are indeed giving you permission to eat sweets for breakfast!
Created by Pia Chevalier, the design of the mug is inspired by baked goods: the cup's oversized handle looks just like a delicious, glazed doughnut. The Donut mugs are made in Portugal using molds that, together with the distinctive glaze, give the mugs an artisanal look. Despite their almost handmade feel, the mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Sit down and enjoy the sun
Fatboy’s bright Toní Bistreau is the perfect outdoor table, especially for small balconies, porches, or patios; the round, height-adjustable table seats comfortably two to four people. The stackable garden table has an umbrella holder in the middle, making Toní Bistreau perfect also for the outdoor seating areas of cafés and bars. The holder can also be used for a candle, transforming the mood around the table from casual to romantic in no time.
Designed by Erik Stehmann, the Toní garden furniture is made of lightweight aluminum and finished with a high-quality Axalta coating that makes the furniture very resistant to both rain and sunlight. So you don’t have to worry about fading colors or rust – the only thing you need to do is sit down, relax, and enjoy the sun!
