“When there’s a sale, I often look for products that are durable and can be used in multiple ways,” says Finnish Design Shop interior architect Maija Rasila, who chose six timeless items from the Summer Sale. Check them out and act quickly, because the stock is limited!
1. Softer light from Louis Poulsen
“When there’s a sale, I often look for products that are durable and can be used in multiple ways. Louis Poulsen’s iconic Radiohus lamp collection is exactly that. The opal glass shade creates a soft light around it, while the open lower part directs part of the light on the table. This makes it a versatile lamp, both to provide general lighting and used above a dining table.
I recently got one of these into my lobby and I’m really happy with it. Designed in the 1940s, the lamp has a classic design that can also be used together with more modern architecture. This piece will always find a place, even if its location or purpose may change over time.”
2. A design classic from FontanaArte
“Designed for FontanaArte by Gae Aulenti, the glass-top sofa table is a fine classic that brings a bit of industrial spunk into any interior decoration. Thanks to its light structure, it is also suitable for small spaces, and the large wheels make it easy to move anywhere you need it.
“FontanaArte's coffee table is a fine classic that brings a bit of industrial spunk into any interior decoration.”
Designed in 1980, the table is a testament to the modern aesthetics of its time, and very simple in its design. I also like the way it is kind of anonymous: although it has been around for decades and is a well-known piece, you don’t come across it that often.”
3. Durability from Kvadrat
“A high-quality wool rug may not be that cheap, but is extremely durable and easy to take care of. You should keep your eye out for high-quality textiles in sales: the discounts on the more expensive products are often considerable, and the products may last for decades.
Kvadrat’s Vintage without Fringes is a beautifully simple wool rug woven using the kelim technique. Thanks to its neutral appearance, you can easily build a variety of decors around it, and play with different colors, styles and shapes. This is a basic pillar for interior decoration that will fit in just about anywhere.”
4. A gift idea from Georg Jensen
“Spectacular glass objects retain their magic year after year. Georg Jensen’s Alfredo vase has such a beautiful shape that it’s beautiful even when empty. It’s also an excellent present for a person who enjoys flowers and beautiful objects. The design is by Alfredo Häberli, who is also known for many Iittala classics.
Thanks to the narrow top, the vase will look good with a single flower or a bouquet. The shape is ideal for a rich bouquet of tulips or flowers picked from your garden.”
5. A storage solution from Lundia
“Lundia shelves are not called a classic for nothing: the super versatile shelving system is useful in just about any home. It’s good for large piles of books, vinyl LPs and for presenting your most beautiful objects. You can also use it for tableware or the children’s room – anywhere where you need to store things.

Made of Finnish pine, the shelves are often passed on to the next generation. As it’s solid wood, you can also make adjustments depending on your needs.”
6. Kitchen tools from Microplane
“For the serious chef, Microplane’s grater set is a must. It consists of two graters, Zester and Extra Coarse for different ingredients.
The high-quality Microplane graters are favorites of many professional chefs and demanding connoisseurs. In addition to their excellent properties, they are also aesthetic: the features include the walnut handle, and the graters have received the Red Dot Award.
