Description

Meriaamiainen is a silkscreen print from 2000, created by Finnish artist Juha Soisalo. With the name translating to “breakfast by the sea”, the print depicts a view of the Baltic Sea from Hanko, the southernmost tip of Finland. Belonging to an edition of 100 prints, the work features an edition number as well as the artist’s hand-written signature.

Juha Soisalo (1941–2016) was a Finnish contemporary artist and painter, born in Helsinki, whose body of work represents abstract constructivism. His works often feature motifs inspired by nature, the sea and the sky as well as some elements of mysticality and surrealism, as well as characteristics of pop art. His art has been exhibited in over 50 exhibitions in Finland and in around 20 exhibitions in other countries. Some of his works can be found in the collections of the Finnish National Gallery, the Amos Rex art museum in Helsinki and the Sara Hilde?n Art Museum in Tampere.
