Dominique Perrault (b. 1953) is a French architect and urban planner best known for designing the François Mitterrand centre of the French National Library, a design that earned him the prestigious  Mies van der Rohe award in 1997. Perrault founded his own architecture studio already in 1981 after having studied architecture at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, urban planning at École des Ponte et Chaussées and history at École de Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. In addition to architecture, his studio has found success in the fields of urban planning and product design.
