Originally, Argimon studied electrics, but decided to abandon his studies to dedicate himself fully to painting. In 1956, Argimon won the Cercle Maillol Prize awarded by the French Institute of Barcelona and received a scholarship by the French Government – this gave him the opportunity to move to Paris to study lithography at the École des Beaux Arts.

In 1968, he obtained another scholarship, this time from the International Institute of Education, and moved to New York, where he completed his screen printing studies at the Pratt Institute. In 1983, he obtained a degree in fine arts from the University of Barcelona.

In the course of his career as an artist, Argimon also taught drawing and lithography at the Lycée français de Barcelone and the Escola de la Llotja, both located in Barcelona. He also served twice as president of the Catalonian trade union of visual artists.
