Towards spring – showroom favorites in February

Every month, Finnish Design Shop’s Showroom Manager Maija Rasila and her team pick the showroom’s most interesting products and interior decoration trends. In February, as winter will be gradually giving way to spring, we see fresh colors and details.

FEBRUARY IS ALREADY the prelude to a season with more light – soon we can bid farewell to winter and welcome spring.

The approaching new season can already be seen in our showroom in the form of fresh colors, shapes and lighter textures. At the moment we are into spring cushions, small dots of color and surprising shapes. Timeless classics are always close to us, too. We have a nice selection of eternal favorites by, for example, Paavo Tynell, Hans Wegner and Charles and Ray Eames.”

Hem Palo sofa

Clear and simple

Sofa shapes are beginning to drifts towards clearer and more massive shapes, after a long period of lighter shapes. The Palo sofas by Swedish brand Hem combine both aspects beautifully, with sturdy shapes and a light metal frame.

Our showroom has a 2-seater version, which is an ideal solution for the living room in a small apartment, or in the study in case of visitors: the back cushions can be removed easily, revealing a flat surface that can double as a bed.

If necessary, the modular sofa can be made into a bigger, more impressive sofa. The firm PU foam cushion material and the slightly deeper seat depth create a lounge-like and upright and comfortable feel.

Spring colors in sofas

Colors are now more important in interiors than they have been for a long time. Different colors are combined is a range of combinations, with soft pastels and bold accent colors, such as bright blue and yellow.

Changing cushions is not a classic interior decoration trick without a reason.

HAY’s Outline cushions with made from a cotton-linen blend glow in delicious and bright colors that create the feeling of spring. Piped trims of different colors create added detail. Changing cushions is not a classic interior decoration trick without a reason – I recommend you to try how a single spot of color can transform the feeling in a home.

Beautiful bathroom

When spring comes, people often have the urge to clean, makes things fresh and maintain places. A quick and easy way to revitalize your bathroom is to get new towels and beautiful cosmetic packaging. Frama’s products in the Apothecary collection come in stylish, refillable glass pump dispensers.

Our showroom collection includes hand wash, hand lotion, body wash and scented candle. I’ve earmarked these for my bathroom, which is currently under renovation. The products not only look good but also contain essential oils, creating redolence reminiscent of spas.

Gubi Tynell A1965 pendant

Classic in the kitchen

We always yearn for timeless and durable products in the kitchen, too. Designed in 1948 by Paavo Tynell, the A1965 pendant is a classic choice both in homes of that era, but also for more modern homes to create contrast. It is particularly impressive in low light, with light filtering beautifully through the lamp’s perforated shade.

The pendant comes in several colors, and with or without the counterweight. In our showroom, we have the luxurious brass lamp on display.

Roots Living Wicker rug

Fresh and rugged

Light and fresh materials are in at the moment, reminding us of the coming summer. The Wicker rug by Roots Living is made of timeless hemp, and its lively pattern, inspired by rattan, creates an added dimension to it. The fringes complete the relaxed style.

Try the hemp mat in your living room or lobby. It thrives best with other natural materials, such as wool, linen and canvas cotton.
