SOFIE and YANNICK channel their love for design and nature into their plant lifestyle shop in Antwerp, The Plant Corner. With a background in interior design, Sofie also offers advice for decorating with pottery and plants.
Hello Sofie and Yannick, thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about the path that leads you to where you are today?
“Hi, thank you for your interest! We're Sofie and Yannick, two design-loving globetrotters and proud owners of The Plant Corner. Sofie's work and her love for design have led her around the world and those experiences are what form the base of what our shop is all about: beautiful plants in a curated and carefully styled environment.”
Do you have a dream creative project or collaboration?
“We've actually just now finished our dream project, renovating an old townhouse in Antwerp into our own little urban jungle. But during a trip to Lanzarote last winter, we fell in love with the projects of César Manrique and the way he integrated nature into his architecture. We'd like to incorporate his philosophy in our future projects as well.”
What does good design mean to you? What makes a design classic?
“Good design respects natural forms and colors and perfects any space. A well-selected item can change the whole feeling of a room. This also goes for plants by the way!”

“Hay's Palissade collection designed by the Bouroullec brothers is one of our personal favorites. It’s very hard to find outdoor furniture that is not only resistant and sturdy but also looks great. You can see every piece is carefully designed and well thought out.”

“Kartell's Componibili storage unit was the first design piece we ever bought when we were still living in Berlin. It’s a timeless classic and also very functional. You could use it in any and every room, it literally fits anywhere!”

4. Petite Friture: Vertigo pendant
“The iconic Vertigo pendant light, designed by Constance Guisset for Petite Friture, is both ethereal and graphic, adapting to both large and small spaces where it creates its own intimate space. We have this lamp in our store as well and it's truly an eye-catching centerpiece.”
