The elegant Kastehelmi collection is now enriched with a new member, the Kastehelmi votive. Originally designed by Oiva Toikka in 1964, to celebrate Toikka’s 50th Iittala reintroduced in 2010 a selection of the most popular pieces in the Kastehelmi range. The idea of using droplets of glass as decoration came to Oiva Toikka when he was thinking of ways of covering the joint marks left on the surface of pressed glass pieces by the production process. The result was a stylish series, much praised and beloved. Kastehelmi votive is the newest piece of the range designed by Oiva Toikka and its decoration gives the impression of water and fire combined together when the candle is lit.
