Teresa Moorhouse

Teresa Moorhouse is a graphic designer who has designed printed fabric patterns for Marimekko since 2004. Her patterns appear in Marimekko’s interior decoration collection as well as in bags and garments. Her graphic, spacious and fresh style is epitomised by the beautiful plant-themed patterns.

Among her most famous designs there are patterns such as Matkalla maalle, Latvassa korkealla, Sininen Gepardi (2008) and Yläilmoissa (2009). In Sininen gepardi (Finnish for blue cheetah) fabric, the leading role is played by a fairy-tale jungle animal that has settled on a tree branch to rest. A calm yet alert cheetah, drawn from the designer's childhood memories, observes its surroundings in two different colour schemes: a glowing blue-red-orange, and green-hued landscape. Sininen gepardi was designed by Teresa Moorhouse in 2008.

Yläilmoissa fabric reflects the feelings of peace, freedom and infinity, evoked by clouds in an endless sky. In this pattern, everyone can find forms from their own dreams. The design represents gentle modernism, and brings a softness to contemporary homes.
