
Päivi Raivio
Päivi Raivio (b. 1979) is a Finnish artist, designer, facilitator and planner working in the area of public spaces and communities. As an artist her interests are installations and ceramics. Päivi Raivio studied for the Ba Hons in Design and Public Art at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London specializing in large scale ceramics in public context.
Her final work was a participatory art project in collaboration with young homeless people in London. She received a grant by the Westminster Arts Council to continue the project. Päivi Raivio completed her MA studies in Applied Art and Design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2009. Her work focused in participatory design in the urban setting and designer’s role in the process of placemaking. Her work was awarded by SATO company. Currently she works for Helsingin Energia developing the usability of the street work sites and as a freelance designer and facilitator. One of Päivi Raivio’s most popular creations is Kippi serving bowl, a ceramic bowl that was first exhibited at the Imu Design exhibition, Helsinki Design Museum, in 2005. Kippi serving bowl makes it easy to serve and pass the snacks in the table. Kippi is perfect also for dip sauces. Päivi Raivio has also created numerous handmade and decorated ceramic pieces as well as jewellery.
