Orthex

The Finnish company Orthex was founded in 1956, when Aulis Kallonen set up a factory in the village of Immula in Lohja, Finland believing in the future of plastic. The first products made by Orthex were clothespins, combs, hand mirrors and eggcups. In the 1960s and 1970s the company grew as the advantages of plastic household products soon came into the awareness of people. Many new products in food storage and serving were taken in production.

Today Orthex has grown to become Orthex group and after a change of generations Kari and Tiina Kallonen are now the owner of the company. The company has  three production units and it sells innovative products made out of plastic around the world. Their watering pots have won the Red Dot Design award in 2012.
