Ditte Reckweg graduated from the Danish Design School (Ceramics and Glass Design) in 2001. She runs together with Jelena Schou Nordentoft the design store Stilleben. Stilleben’s design is simple and functional, but always with a detail that makes the difference. Focus is on precise design and materials and surfaces which underline the product in the best possible way.
Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft are the two designers who created the Omaggio vases for Kähler. With Omaggio Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft have reinterpreted the classic raw stripes, as an homage to Kähler and to the designer Svend Hammershøi from Kähler whose trademarks were horizontal and vertical lines. Omaggio vases, available in different sizes and colour combinations, are a unique and bold impression of the times.
Kähler ceramics have played an important role in placing Denmark on the map when it comes to art and design and the two designers have always been fascinated by the company’s products. It is with this in mind and to help carry the artistic ceramics heritage into a new era and a new form language that Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft designed Omaggio for Kähler.
